Modi Urges India to Boycott Foreign Goods

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to stop using foreign-made products and switch to local goods in a recent public address.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to stop using foreign-made products and switch to local goods in a recent public address.

This call comes after the U. S. imposed a 50% tariff on Indian imports. Modi promoted the idea of “Swadeshi,” or made-in-India items, and encouraged his supporters to boycott popular American brands like McDonald’s, Pepsi, and Apple.

He pointed out that many daily products are foreign and emphasized the need to buy Indian-made items. Modi also encouraged shopkeepers to sell local products to support economic growth. Meanwhile, India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal is set to visit Washington for trade discussions to mend strained ties.
