A man shot by federal agents in Minneapolis has died, marking the second fatal shooting by federal agents this month amid heightened immigration enforcement.
The man was armed with a handgun and two magazines, according to the Department of Homeland Security. A video showed masked agents struggling with him before shots were fired. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz demanded an end to immigration enforcement operations, calling the situation “sickening” and urging the removal of federal agents from the state.
Senator Tina Smith described the shooting as “catastrophic. ” Minneapolis officials asked the public to remain calm and avoid the area as the incident is investigated.
