North Korea has recently conducted tests on various weapons, including tactical ballistic missiles, artillery rockets, and AI-guided precision cruise missiles, under the guidance of Kim Jong Un, as reported by the KCNA news agency. The nation is enhancing its tactical and conventional arsenal while also developing long-range ballistic missiles and nuclear capabilities, aiming to station these weapons close to the South Korean border.

The tests evaluated the effectiveness of a “special mission warhead” on tactical missiles, as well as the reliability of artillery rockets and the precision of AI-guided cruise missiles. Kim stated that these tests demonstrated the successful upgrades of weapons and automated systems for modern combat.

The accuracy of the cruise missiles, which can hit targets up to 100 km away, particularly emphasizes their readiness for deployment near South Korea. Seoul is within this range, and North Korea views the South as its main adversary. Analysts note that the incorporation of AI technology for target recognition in the missiles is significant, as North Korea claims to have previously used AI in its drones.

Additionally, North Korea has been supplying Russia with weapons since late 2023, which are being utilized in the Ukraine conflict, potentially offering the North valuable military data. Recently, South Korea’s military detected the launch of multiple projectiles, including a ballistic missile.
