Palestinian security sources and eyewitnesses have reported that the Israeli army conducted airstrikes on areas in eastern Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip on Monday.
According to sources, the airstrikes resulted in fire belts near Gaza Airport and on the outskirts of the Al-Salam neighborhood. The attacks caused significant damage to nearby structures, but no injuries have been reported so far.
Prior to the airstrikes, the Israeli army had urged the Palestinian civilian population to temporarily evacuate from eastern Rafah. Avichai Adraee, a spokesperson for the Israeli army, stated that they would use extreme force against terrorist organizations in specific neighborhoods of Rafah.
Israel views Rafah as the last major stronghold of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, with approximately 1.4 million Palestinians residing there.
