In view of the ongoing deterioration of the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the increasing needs on the ground, the Commission is enhancing its funding to aid Palestinians affected by the ongoing conflict. The EU has approved an extra €68 million in humanitarian aid to be distributed through partner organizations already supporting Palestinians in Gaza and the surrounding areas. This assistance is intended to boost essential food aid, nutrition, healthcare, water and sanitation, and shelter support, among other necessities.

With this contribution, the total EU humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza and the region in 2024 amounts to €193 million. Moreover, the EU Humanitarian Air Bridge operation remains active in delivering crucial supplies provided by humanitarian partners and EU Member States to the people in Gaza. The most recent flight will deliver emergency supplies today, with two more flights scheduled for the first week of May.

The EU has sponsored two convoys carrying over 130 tonnes of shelter, health, water, and sanitation supplies donated by Ireland and humanitarian partners. These supplies, dispatched from Dubai, are being transported to Gaza in collaboration with the Global Logistics Cluster through Jordan. The Commission is closely monitoring the situation and is prepared to offer additional assistance as needed.
