Netanyahu reject foreign pressure regarding Iran’s response

Benjamin Netanyahu: “I want to make it clear - we will make our own decisions, and the State of Israel will do everything necessary to defend itself."

In a clear defiance of international pressure, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated during his weekly cabinet meeting that he has informed both the German foreign minister and the British foreign secretary that Israel will take action in a manner that serves its own interests, at a time and place of its own choosing. Netanyahu’s office said he thanked David Cameron and Annalena Baerbock for their support, while telling them: “I want to make it clear – we will make our own decisions, and the State of Israel will do everything necessary to defend itself.”

David Cameron stated that it has become evident that Israel intends to retaliate against the Iranian missile and drone attacks. These attacks were launched by Tehran on Saturday in response to an alleged Israeli airstrike that resulted in the deaths of military officers at the Syrian embassy.

Annalena Baerbock emphasized that escalating the situation would be detrimental to various parties involved. It would not benefit Israel’s security, the numerous hostages held by Hamas, the suffering population of Gaza, the people in Iran who are already enduring hardships under the regime, or the neighboring countries in the region who simply desire peaceful coexistence.

Amidst widespread speculation about Israel’s next move and how, when, and where it will retaliate against Iran, the prevailing belief is that Israel will indeed respond. This sentiment is shared by various Israeli officials, including the prime minister, the defense minister, and the chief of staff of the Israeli army.
