Ashuriena Abraham is an indigenous Assyrian human rights advocate with a background in technology, born in exile after her parents fled violence in their ancestral homeland. Her advocacy is rooted in lived experience and focuses on protecting Assyrians, Yezidis, and Mandaeans from systemic displacement, violence, and erasure. She co-leads research submitted to international bodies and has presented on Assyrian persecution at the IRF Summit and the International Commission for Human Rights and Religious Freedom. She also spoke at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Ashuriena is the Deputy Director of Advocacy for the Assyrian International Council, serves as MENA Co-Chair of the Global Youth Summit on FoRB for the First Freedom Foundation Fellowship, and is an Advocacy Ambassador for the Susek Evangelistic Association’s Assyrian Project. She is active in cultural and humanitarian work through the Assyrian American Association of Southern California.
