Iranian Security Council chief Mohsen Rezaei met with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not appeared in public since March. This meeting occurred after Rezaei held talks with officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East due to the conflict that began with US and Israeli attacks on Iran in February. Khamenei emphasized the importance of advancing Iran’s interests and maintaining conditions for ending the war.

The recent meetings marked the first high-level discussions between Iran and the three nations since the conflict began. The discussions included topics like securing the Strait of Hormuz and enhancing relations with neighboring countries. An Iranian official stated that Iran’s nuclear program would not be discussed until its conditions for ending the war were met. These conditions include lifting the US blockade on Iranian ports and sanctions on Iranian oil exports. US Vice President JD Vance noted that Iran must reduce its nuclear enrichment to help resolve the conflict.
