Poland Holds Emergency Security Meeting After Threats Against PM and Defence Minister

Polish security services held a special meeting on Sunday due to a potential threat against Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.

Polish security services held a special meeting on Sunday due to a potential threat against Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz. The exact details of the threat are unclear. Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński and Minister-Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak ordered immediate action based on information from the Polish Police.

A meeting at the Internal Security Agency’s Counter-Terrorism Centre was scheduled for 11:00 a.m. A spokesperson for the minister-coordinator had no further comments. Reports indicate that police received an email regarding the threat. Poland has experienced rising political polarization and security risks, particularly due to the war in Ukraine. In August, a 23-year-old was detained for threatening politicians, and authorities are also responding to recent violence in schools.
