US, Ukraine and European Envoys Meet in Miami as Trump Announces Russia Diesel Deal

Negotiators from the US, Ukraine, and Europe met for six hours in Miami to create a unified proposal to end the war in Ukraine.

Negotiators from the US, Ukraine, and Europe met for six hours in Miami to create a unified proposal to end the war in Ukraine. They hope to reach an agreement in the coming weeks to present to Russia for a breakthrough before winter. This meeting occurred on the same day US President Donald Trump announced that Russia would supply diesel to global markets to lower fuel prices, while his administration lifted sanctions on Russian fuel. This move faced criticism from US lawmakers and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who stated that the money would be used against Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin commented that immediate peace talks were unlikely due to Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow. The Miami talks included US envoys, Ukrainian representatives, and delegates from Europe and NATO. They discussed a post-war package for Ukraine, which would feature security guarantees and an economic plan, along with Ukraine’s potential EU accession. The delegations also touched on territory and the need for compromise, with Zelenskiy insisting on the return of seized land. Additionally, they explored a security framework for future peace in Europe, though no details were shared.
