Iran Halts U.S. Talks, Threatens Hormuz Blockade

Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that Tehran’s negotiating team has halted message exchanges with the United States due to attacks on Lebanon. The conflict in Iran has been ongoing for three months, and diplomatic efforts to resolve it continue. Iran and its Shiite allies, known as the Resistance Front, aim to block the Strait of Hormuz and engage other fronts, including the Bab El Mandeb Strait, to retaliate against Israel and its allies.

If the Houthis in Yemen join the conflict, they might target the Bab El Mandeb Strait, a crucial shipping route to the Suez Canal. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi warned that any violation of the ceasefire on one front impacts all fronts, holding the U. S. and Israel accountable for violations. The war, started by the U. S. and Israel on February 28, has resulted in significant casualties and increased global energy prices. Iranian officials have stressed the need for an immediate halt to Israel’s operations in Gaza and Lebanon, stating there will be no negotiations until their demands are met.
