Ukrainian Drone Strikes Hit Russia’s Primorsk Port in Major Wave Attack

Ukrainian drones attacked the Russian Baltic Sea port of Primorsk on Sunday, causing a fire that was quickly extinguished, according to local governor Alexander Drozdenko. He reported that over 60 drones were intercepted in Russia’s Leningrad region, and there was no oil spill from the attack on Primorsk, which can export up to 1 million barrels of oil per day. This port has been targeted multiple times recently as Ukraine increased its strikes on Russian energy infrastructure amid stalled U. S.-brokered peace talks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced that Ukrainian forces also struck two tankers near the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, stating these tankers were used for oil transport. He emphasized the development of Ukraine’s long-range capabilities across all fronts: sea, air, and land.

Additionally, other Russian regions experienced drone attacks over the weekend. In one incident, a 77-year-old man died from a drone strike in a village, and Moscow’s mayor reported four drones were shot down while approaching the city. In the Smolensk region, a drone attack on an apartment building injured three people, including a child. Meanwhile, Russian troops were reported to be advancing toward Kostiantynivka in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region.
