U. S. Secret Service and local police shot and killed a man with a shotgun at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach, Florida, early Sunday. Trump was not present at the resort during the incident. The man, believed to be in his early 20s, was seen at the resort’s north gate around 1:30 a.m. carrying a shotgun and a fuel can.
When confronted by law enforcement, he dropped the gas can but raised the shotgun, leading officers to open fire. He was declared dead at the scene, and no officers were injured. The motive for the incident remains unknown, and the FBI is now investigating and collecting evidence.
The White House did not respond to requests for comments. The United States has been experiencing an increase in political violence, with notable incidents involving threats and assassinations linked to public figures, including Trump and other political leaders.
