Pakistan’s security forces killed 145 militants within 40 hours following coordinated attacks in Balochistan, a province known for its ongoing conflict with insurgent groups.
The attacks highlighted the ongoing violence in this resource-rich area near Iran and Afghanistan, marked by increased assaults on security personnel and civilians. Balochistan’s Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti reported that the death toll includes those killed during recent raids and ongoing military operations, with 92 militants killed on Saturday alone.
Alongside these militant fatalities, the violence resulted in the deaths of 17 law enforcement officials and 31 civilians. The Baloch Liberation Army, a banned separatist group, claimed responsibility for the attacks, stating it launched a coordinated operation called “Herof. ” Meanwhile, Pakistan’s military accused Indian-backed militants of involvement, a claim India denied.
The attacks occurred across various districts, prompting large-scale military responses and the activation of emergency protocols in hospitals. Security forces managed to thwart attempts by militants to seize control of key locations.
