Spanish PM Sanchez: A US Grab for Greenland is a ‘Gift to Putin’

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated in an interview that a U. S. invasion of Greenland would please Vladimir Putin and harm NATO.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated in an interview that a U. S. invasion of Greenland would please Vladimir Putin and harm NATO. He expressed that such military action would give Russia justification for its invasion of Ukraine. Sanchez argued that if the U. S. were to use force in Greenland, it would threaten NATO’s existence and make Putin very happy.

Former President Donald Trump recently shifted his stance regarding Greenland, threatening to impose increasing tariffs on European allies. Trump announced on Truth Social that starting February 1, he would raise tariffs by 10% on goods from various countries, including Denmark and Norway, until the U. S. is allowed to buy Greenland. These tariffs could grow to 25% by June 1 if a deal is not reached. Both Denmark and Greenland have firmly stated that the territory is not for sale and does not intend to join the U. S.
