The leaders of Thailand and Cambodia signed an enhanced ceasefire agreement in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump, whose diplomatic efforts in their border conflict earned him a Nobel Peace Prize nomination.

The agreement, building on a previous truce, aims to prevent further hostilities after a five-day exchange of rockets and artillery that caused significant casualties and displacement.

Trump praised his administration’s quick mediation, highlighting the deal as a major achievement in regional stability, and emphasized that the United Nations was not involved.

The accord includes commitments to establish an ASEAN observer team, de-escalate military tensions, and remove heavy weapons and landmines, with both countries expressing a shared desire to resolve their differences peacefully and respect sovereignty.
