Hamas stated that it has not received the Gaza ceasefire plan proposed by U. S. President Donald Trump, as Israeli attacks on Gaza City intensified. Reports indicated that Hamas was open to releasing Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, along with provisions to end Hamas’s rule in Gaza and prevent territory annexation. However, a Hamas official denied having seen any plan.
Trump mentioned ongoing discussions about Gaza, stating that they were intense and would continue. He was scheduled to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is against ceasing the military action until Hamas is eliminated. Trump had also presented a 21-point Middle East peace plan to leaders of several Muslim-majority countries.
Meanwhile, fighting in Gaza persisted, with the Israeli military claiming to have targeted numerous locations and the Palestinian Health Ministry reporting 74 casualties in the last day alone. The U. N. estimated that between 350,000 and 400,000 Palestinians have evacuated since the offensive began, although many remain.
Doctors Without Borders announced the suspension of medical operations in Gaza City due to the surrounding Israeli forces, expressing concern for vulnerable populations. Four health facilities have closed this month, and the U. N. reported the shutdown of malnutrition centers as well. Since the conflict with Hamas began nearly two years ago, it is reported that over 65,000 Palestinians have been killed, and the health infrastructure has been severely damaged, leading to severe conditions including famine. Israel claims its actions are self-defense.
