According to the media office of the Hamas-led Gaza government, over 100 Palestinians lost their lives and numerous others sustained injuries due to an Israeli airstrike on a school in Gaza City during the early hours of Saturday.

The Al-Taba’een School was housing many displaced individuals who were engaged in dawn prayers at the time of the attack, resulting in a significant number of casualties. The media office further stated that medical, civil defense, relief, and emergency teams faced challenges in retrieving the bodies of all the deceased victims.

Israeli warplanes targeted the school located in eastern Gaza City, within the northern Gaza Strip, launching three rockets. Most of the injured individuals who were transported to Ahli Arab Hospital in the city are reported to be in critical condition, as per the Palestinian official news agency WAFA.

Hamas condemned the killings with the utmost severity, attributing full responsibility for the attack to both Israel and the U.S. administration, as stated by its media office.

The Palestinian presidency remarked in a statement that the timing of the attack, which coincided with the U.S. administration’s announcement of 3.5 billion U.S. dollars in military aid to Israel, suggests the United States’ complicity in the ongoing violence.

“The U.S. must press Israel to cease its aggression and adhere to international law. The U.S. must end the blind support that leads to the killing of thousands of innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly,” it added.
