President Donald Trump’s approval rating has dropped to 32%, marking the lowest point in his political career, as revealed by a new Reuters/Ipsos poll. The poll showed a decrease in approval among Republicans, with only 73% supporting Trump compared to 82% the previous week. His overall approval was 35% that week.
Trump’s return to the White House in January 2025 was based on promises to reduce inflation and end foreign wars, but only 17% of respondents approved of his handling of the cost of living, a key issue for the upcoming November 3 midterm elections. Discontent among Republicans has risen since the start of the Iran war in February, which has led to higher gas prices. For the first time, more Republicans disapprove of Trump’s approach to cost of living than approve, at 51% to 44%. The poll gathered responses from 1,277 US adults and has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
