China’s ruling Communist Party emphasized loyalty in a new resolution aimed at strengthening internal discipline and continuing its anti-corruption efforts. This resolution, discussed at a recent party leadership meeting, calls for enhancing loyalty among members and judging officials based on their commitment to party values, as seen through their work, behavior, and family values.
The resolution acknowledges ongoing problems such as ideological and organizational impurities and aims to address them through an extensive anti-graft campaign that has already affected millions in the bureaucracy. This initiative comes in anticipation of a leadership change where President Xi Jinping is expected to secure another five-year term.
The party plans to improve oversight of officials, including stricter checks on personal disclosures and the financial activities of their families. The anti-corruption campaign will also target hidden forms of graft, including the misuse of technology and financial systems to facilitate corruption.
While promoting collective leadership, the document still reinforces Xi’s authority, urging party members to support him fully in thought and action. Xi emphasized the importance of rigorous self-governance to maintain the party’s integrity and legacy for future generations.
