Taiwan’s military will conduct a five-day combat readiness drill starting Monday, as part of its modernization efforts. The drill aims to make training more realistic by simulating possible war scenarios, particularly focused on potential attacks from China. Taiwan’s defense ministry stated the “Immediate Combat Readiness Exercise” is part of its annual training plan and will enhance the armed forces’ ability to transition quickly from peacetime to wartime operations.

The exercise will involve real troops, actual terrain, and real equipment, focusing on command mechanisms, joint operations, logistical support, and battlefield preparation. This announcement coincided with reports of China sending 21 military aircraft near Taiwan, including various fighter and support planes, some of which entered Taiwan’s airspace for training exercises.

Taiwan frequently holds military drills, including a recent exercise where it tested its new HIMARS rocket system. The main annual Han Kuang war games are scheduled for August this year.
