At just four years old, Max Alexander told his parents he wanted to be a dressmaker, and by age 10, he was showcasing a collection at Paris Fashion Week. Recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s youngest fashion runway designer, he created clothing for Denver Fashion Week at age seven and presented a 15-look women’s collection in Paris in March. He will attend a documentary debut about his life at the Tribeca Film Festival soon.

Max is unsure why he chose fashion design so early but finds joy in expressing his creativity. He believes that any material can be used, saying, “You can make a dress out of pickles” or other unusual items. He draws inspiration from his surroundings and focuses on sustainable materials, like coffee bean bags, which he suggests can biodegrade after ten years.

He describes his Paris show as “very fun” and feels appreciated by the audience. Max sells his designs for all ages on a personal website and is currently working on an outfit to wear to “Hamilton. ” He follows a design process he calls “the dress cycle” and shares typical concerns of a fourth grader, including shorter recesses in fifth grade.
