Israel supports U. S. President Donald Trump’s decision to pause attacks against Iran for two weeks but states that this ceasefire does not include Lebanon.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s office expressed that Israel backs the U. S. move on the condition that Iran opens the strait and halts attacks on the U. S., Israel, and regional countries.
This announcement follows Washington’s declaration of a two-week suspension of attacks against Iran to help reduce conflict and promote negotiations. Israel also endorsed U. S. efforts to ensure Iran does not pose a nuclear, missile, or terrorist threat to the U. S., Israel, and Iran’s Arab neighbors, with assurances from Washington regarding shared goals in future negotiations.
Iran confirmed that negotiations with the U. S. would start on April 10 in Islamabad. Two White House officials stated that Israel agreed to the ceasefire and to stop its bombing campaign on Iran. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif noted that the deal encompasses a halt of Israel’s actions in Lebanon, where the conflict has caused over 1,500 deaths and displaced 1.2 million people.
