Thousands of people have died in the Iran war that started when the U. S. and Israel struck Iran on February 28. This action led Iran to attack Israel, U. S. bases, and Gulf states, as well as opening a new front in Lebanon. The latest death tolls reported, which have not been independently verified by Reuters, show significant casualties across the region.
In Iran, the U. S.-based rights group HRANA reports that 3,461 people have died, including 1,551 civilians and 236 children. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies reported at least 1,900 deaths and 20,000 injuries from the U. S.-Israeli strikes, not accounting for an additional 104 reported deaths from an attack on an Iranian warship.
Lebanon has reported 1,189 fatalities from Israeli strikes, with 124 of those being children. Approximately 400 Hezbollah fighters have also been killed since their conflict with Israel began on March 2.
In Iraq, at least 100 people have died since the crisis began, including civilians and members of affiliated militias. One foreign crew member was reported killed near a port due to tanker attacks.
In Israel, 19 people have died from missile attacks, and the Israeli military reported four of its soldiers killed in Lebanon. An Israeli farmer was also accidentally killed by friendly fire on March 22.
In the U. S., 13 service members died, with six from a military aircraft crash and others killed in operations against Iran. Twelve troops were wounded in an Iranian strike on Prince Sultan Air Base.
The United Arab Emirates reported ten deaths from Iranian attacks, and in Qatar, seven people died in a helicopter crash on March 22. Kuwait recorded six deaths, including two from Iranian attacks.
In the West Bank, four Palestinian women were killed in an Iranian missile strike. Syria reported four deaths from a missile attack in Sweida. Bahrain had two fatalities from Iranian attacks, while Oman reported two deaths from a drone strike. In Saudi Arabia, two people died from a projectile strike, and in France, a soldier was killed in a drone attack in Iraq.
