Russia reported on Saturday that its troops are making progress in battles around the towns of Pokrovsk and Kupiansk and have seized a small village called Vovche in eastern Ukraine.
The Defence Ministry stated this on Telegram. In the Donetsk region, Russia is engaged in intense fighting in Pokrovsk and the nearby town of Myrnohrad, claiming both are encircled.
Additionally, the ministry mentioned advancements in Kupiansk, where Ukrainian forces are reportedly surrounded. Ukraine has acknowledged the challenging situation in Pokrovsk but insists it continues to fight in all three towns.
However, Reuters could not confirm these battle reports, and a Ukrainian mapping service suggests that Russian advances have not isolated Ukrainian troops.
