Polish MiG-29 fighter jets intercepted a Russian reconnaissance plane over the Baltic Sea on Thursday, marking the second such incident that week, according to Polish Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Polish jets also intercepted a Russian aircraft in international airspace during a reconnaissance mission. The Polish Army Operational Command reported that on October 30, 2025, MiG-29 fighters conducted another interception of a Russian Il-20 aircraft, which was flying without a filed flight plan and had its transponder turned off. There was no violation of Polish airspace. NATO’s eastern countries remain vigilant due to recent airspace violations by Russian military jets.
