According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, the number of Palestinians killed in ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has now reached 34,454. In the past 24 hours alone, the Israeli army has killed 66 Palestinians and injured 138 others, bringing the total death toll to 34,454 and injuries to 77,575 since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7, 2023.
Israel is currently awaiting a response from Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar regarding a proposed ceasefire in the territory. Hamas, on the other hand, has stated that it will review Israel’s response to their ceasefire proposal. Khalil Al-Hayya, Hamas deputy chief in Gaza, announced that Hamas has received Israel’s official response to their position on a ceasefire in Gaza, which was submitted to mediators Egypt and Qatar on April 13.
After studying the Israeli response, Hamas will provide its reply to the mediators. Qatar, Egypt, and the United States are working towards a prisoner exchange and a second ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, following the previous one that ended in December.
