India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Sunday to strengthen trade and explore collaborations in semiconductors, defence, and other areas.

This visit marks Modi’s first since the two nations established a comprehensive strategic partnership in August 2024.

The meeting will take place at Anwar’s official residence in Putrajaya, where they will sign multiple cooperation agreements related to healthcare, national security, and labour.

The two countries are working on a partnership in the semiconductor sector and discussing India’s potential sale of Dornier aircraft and maintenance for submarines and fighter jets. Last year, total trade between India and Malaysia was $18.6 billion.
