Russian missiles hit a multi-storey apartment building in Kharkiv, northeastern Ukraine, on Friday, causing severe damage and injuring at least 25 people.

Emergency services responded to the scene, as photos showed extensive destruction and smoke. Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that two ballistic missiles struck the area and that rescue teams were searching through the rubble for survivors.

Among the injured, 16 people were hospitalized, including a woman in serious condition, while Mayor Ihor Terekhov mentioned a total of 30 injuries.

Kharkiv, located 30 km from the border, has been frequently targeted since the start of the invasion in February 2022.
