Ten people are dead and many others have been injured after a shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, according to officials. Thirteen individuals were taken to the hospital as first responders worked to save lives. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the incident as “shocking and distressing,” emphasizing the efforts of emergency responders on the scene. Eyewitness Harry Wilson recounted seeing at least ten people on the ground and blood everywhere.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog condemned the attack, stating that those who were targeted had come to light the first candle for the Hanukkah holiday. Bondi Beach is known for being crowded with locals and tourists, particularly on warm evenings. Alex Ryvchin from the Executive Council of Australian Jewry expressed disbelief at the attack’s scale, noting that a media adviser was injured.

Videos shared online showed chaotic scenes with gunfire and people fleeing. One clip captured a man in black shooting before being subdued by another person. Another video featured police trying to resuscitate a man on the ground. This event occurred nearly 11 years after the Lindt Café hostage crisis in Sydney.
