Trump’s win is not the doom nor the salvation for the rest of the world. In fact, it is like any other normal election in American history and better than last time, as this time, we are not observing finger-pointing, foreign interference and most importantly, a peaceful transition of power.
China and the USA are two responsible powerhouses. Both countries, of course, want the best for themselves, which should be the prime focus of their leadership. The little strand between the relationship started during the Trump administration when he introduced tariffs on Chinese goods and services. The other factors, like semiconductors, E.V.s, and Green Energy product embargoes, are trade issues that are really solvable as both countries are mature enough to negotiate a win-win deal. The geopolitical challenges are the real tiffs, but as in the past, both parties can maintain the status quo and focus on coming to a common ground for mutual benefits and prosperity.
President Trump strongly advocated for peace and stopping wars during the campaign trail. If true, this is already a good start because it will bring stability to the market, and hopefully, it will be the path forward to resume normalcy at the global stage.
U.S. and China for all good should start the discussion to solve the trade issues and sooner it’s resolved the better for not only them but whole world. The only way the two countries could avoid a conflict is by trading more with each other and accelerate human to human interactions and to achieve that the Chinese are rightfully advocating for mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win win cooperations.
The world needs the powerhouses to lead the way to solving the real challenges of energy and food security. The GOP has a different take on Climate Change, but the E.U., along with the rest of the world, agrees on the threats of unchecked fossil fuel use.
A.I. is another example that needs immediate attention. Because of the trade war, studies suggest global innovation is shrinking, which is not good for research and development and if not addressed would harm the global economy
Vice President-elect JD Vance, in one of the speeches, highlighted and praised the China model of contributing to the world by building roads and bridges, and if the U.S.slightly started foreign policy based on the above principle, the world would quickly heal from the current crisis.
Other events in the Europe where Germany might goes to snap elections and Macrons is advocating to defend the interest of the Europeans as Trump wants the E.U.to play their fair share in NATO.
As President Trump has promised to works for the interest of Americans and Macrons wants the same for the Europeans and without any surprise President Putin yesterday mentioned he is ready to talk to his U.S.counterpart and called him a “Brave Man”, setting the likely course of actions in the transatlantic region.
China is the biggest market in the world and the manufacturing hub of the world, has taken the lead in deep-tech innovation all these factors make China intrinsic to the world economy and its the world which needs the China more than the other way around. China is needed to solve the climate crisis because of its advancements in solar products and E.V.s production at a mass level which make it available at a competitive prices for the emerging markets.
USA needs stable and strong China for its own good and the vices versa, most importantly the world needs the two power-blocs to align on the common grounds and solve the issue by shear diplomacy not politics.
For China and the USA to get along, the focus should be trade and investments, and geopolitics should be resolved in backchannel negations like mature nations to give more trust to the general public and businesses. Trump has the unique opportunity to reset US-China relations, and only time will tell if his promises were true or only rhetoric for his base.
