U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Monday that the United States is close to finalizing a security agreement with Saudi Arabia. He disclosed this information during his visit to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) General Secretariat, where he participated in a joint ministerial meeting with the foreign ministers of the GCC member countries.
Discussions focused on strengthening relations, cooperation, and the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, particularly in Rafah, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency. Both parties emphasized the importance of an immediate ceasefire and the facilitation of urgent humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza. Additionally, Blinken held a separate meeting with Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah at the GCC headquarters to discuss efforts in advancing bilateral relations and the situation in Gaza.
Furthermore, the U.S. Secretary of State also took part in a special meeting of the World Economic Forum during his visit to Riyadh.
