The US military is forming a new task force called Task Force Iron Gate to enhance efforts in limiting Iran’s movement of advanced weapons and other banned materials.
This initiative follows a months-long naval blockade on Iran. The task force will be announced by the US Central Command and will be based in Tampa, Florida, working alongside other US agencies. Its focus will include not only weapons movement but also controlling dual-use items and illegal revenue sources.
Admiral Brad Cooper stated that this collaboration aims to hinder Iran’s funding for terrorism and military rebuilding. The blockade has reportedly prevented Iran from exporting over $25 billion in crude oil.
