The United States has expressed concern over attacks by Israeli settlers in the West Bank, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio stating that Israel needs to take stronger action to prevent these incidents. Rubio highlighted the disturbing nature of recent attacks, including one on Heidi Levine, an American photojournalist, during which multiple individuals were involved in the assault. This incident was part of a larger pattern of violence, as Belgian officials also reported attacks on European diplomats and a French mayor.
Rubio mentioned that the US State Department is looking into the attack on Levine and expects updates from the US Embassy in Jerusalem soon. He noted that there have been at least 170 attacks on Palestinians by Israeli settlers since late September, coinciding with the olive harvest season, according to the monitoring group Yesh Din.
