Russia’s Oil and Gas Revenues Set to Rise 10% to $12 Billion in October

Russian federal budget revenue from oil and gas taxes is expected to rise by 10% in October, reaching 1 trillion roubles ($11.97 billion). This revenue significantly supports the government’s finances, especially for its military efforts in Ukraine.

October’s revenue will see a substantial increase from September, mainly due to quarterly payments of a profit-based tax on oil production. Without this tax, revenues are projected to exceed September’s by about 164 billion roubles, or 36%. Global oil prices have increased due to disruptions from the Middle East conflict, but a 5% decline in production in the third quarter of 2026 may reduce the benefits of these higher prices.

For 2026, Russia anticipates oil and gas revenues of 8.918 trillion roubles as part of a total budget of 40.283 trillion roubles, although revenue from January to October 2026 is expected to drop by 14% compared to the previous year.
