Russia has conducted drone attacks on port infrastructure in Ukraine’s Odesa region, damaging residential buildings and a hospital, and injuring two people, according to Ukrainian officials on Wednesday. Regional Governor Oleh Kiper reported that the admissions department of the hospital was destroyed and other parts were severely damaged. At the time of the attack, medical staff and patients had taken shelter and were later relocated. Regional prosecutors noted that port facilities were targeted but did not provide further details.
Emergency services confirmed the injuries in a residential area, sharing images of buildings on fire as firefighters responded. Kiper also mentioned a fire at the Danube Biosphere Reserve in the region. The Odesa region, which contains key Ukrainian seaports and river ports on the Danube, has faced repeated attacks from Russia during its ongoing war. Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia had launched 171 drones since Monday evening, with air defense units intercepting 154. Additionally, a separate drone and missile attack in the Sumy region killed one person and injured two, causing significant fires in the area.
