Justice Department Releases Epstein Files Containing Allegations Against Trump

The U.S. Department of Justice on Thursday released previously undisclosed records from the Federal Bureau of Investigation related to its investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including interview summaries with a woman who made allegations involving U.S. President Donald Trump.

The U.S. Department of Justice on Thursday released previously undisclosed records from the Federal Bureau of Investigation related to its investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including interview summaries with a woman who made allegations involving U.S. President Donald Trump.

The newly released documents summarize four interviews FBI agents conducted with the unidentified woman in 2019. While earlier disclosures confirmed the interviews had taken place, only one summary had previously been made public. The latest release includes additional claims the woman made during those interviews.

According to the records, she alleged that Trump attempted to force her to perform a sexual act after Epstein introduced her to him in the 1980s when she was between 13 and 15 years old. Reuters said it could not independently verify the claims.

Disputed Allegations

The Justice Department cautioned that some documents in the release include claims that may be untrue or sensationalist. The department said the records were among a group of documents that had previously been misclassified as duplicates and therefore were not initially published.

The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment, though press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Politico that the accusations were “completely baseless” and lacked credible evidence.

FBI records indicate agents stopped speaking with the woman in 2019. In her final interview, conducted during Trump’s first presidency, investigators asked whether she would be willing to provide additional information about the allegations.

According to the report, she questioned whether providing more details would make any difference, saying there was a strong possibility nothing could be done about it at that stage in her life.

Congressional Scrutiny

The release comes amid growing scrutiny in the U.S. Congress over how the Justice Department is handling the publication of documents tied to the Epstein investigation.

Democratic lawmakers have accused the administration of withholding material potentially related to Trump’s past interactions with Epstein. A committee in the U.S. House of Representatives has voted to subpoena Attorney General Pam Bondi for testimony about the department’s management of the document releases.

Trump’s Past Association with Epstein

Trump has repeatedly said his relationship with Epstein ended in the mid-2000s and that he was unaware of Epstein’s alleged sexual abuse at the time.

Previously released documents from the Justice Department indicate Trump flew on Epstein’s plane several times during the 1990s, something Trump has denied. According to an FBI interview record cited in earlier disclosures, Trump also contacted the police chief in Palm Beach after Epstein was first accused of sexual misconduct and said that “everyone has known he’s been doing this.”

The release of additional FBI interview summaries adds another layer to the long-running controversy surrounding Epstein and the political figures connected to him.

While the documents contain allegations rather than proven findings, their disclosure is likely to intensify political pressure on the Justice Department and fuel partisan disputes in Congress over transparency in the Epstein investigation.

For the Trump administration, the episode underscores how unresolved aspects of the Epstein case continue to reverberate years after the financier’s death, periodically resurfacing in ways that carry legal, political and reputational implications.
