Vacheron Constantin has launched new high-jewellery versions of the Overseas self-winding 35 mm model, available in 18K white gold and 18K 5N pink gold. These watches feature the Manufacture movement, calibre 1088/1, and were designed to be comfortable and stylish for all occasions, while showcasing the characteristics of larger models.
The company has a long tradition of excellence in gem-setting, having started this craft in the 19th century when watches doubled as jewelry. The new 35 mm Overseas High Jewellery watch is embellished with 1,430 diamonds, using both brilliant and baguette cuts. The signature Maltese cross motif on the bezel is set with 60 invisibly placed baguette-cut diamonds, showcasing a highly detailed setting process. This method involves creating thin gold rails to hold the diamonds, requiring extreme precision in alignment and positioning for a seamless appearance.
The watch offers versatility with interchangeable accessories. It includes a diamond-set gold bracelet and two straps: one in white rubber and another in shiny alligator leather. The white gold version comes with a blue alligator strap, while the pink gold version features a fuchsia strap. Each strap is secured with a matching pin buckle, which also has 62 brilliant-cut diamonds. The design allows for easy, tool-free changes of bracelets and straps, maintaining comfort with a micro-adjustment system.
The calibre 1088/1 movement powers the watch, providing hour, minute, second, and date functions, with a stop-seconds feature for precise time setting. Operating at 4Hz, this automatic movement has a 40-hour power reserve. Its fine finishing and decorative details, including a 22K gold rotor, can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back.
