Yemen’s Houthi announced on Monday that they have carried out a ballistic missile strike on the port city of Eilat in southern Israel.
According to the group’s Military Spokesman Yahya Sarea, the missile forces targeted a military site in Eilat using a newly developed missile named “Palestine.” Sarea claimed that the operation was successful in achieving its objectives.
The Houthi official also stated that they will continue their military actions in solidarity with the Palestinian people until Israel ceases its attacks on the Palestinian enclave. Earlier the same day, Israeli media reported that Israeli forces intercepted a ballistic missile originating from the Red Sea direction in Eilat.
The Houthi rebel group, in control of much of northern Yemen, began launching ballistic missiles and drones towards southern Israel and Israeli-affiliated ships passing through the Red Sea last November, as a show of support for Palestinians in Gaza. Reports indicate that several ships have been damaged in Houthi attacks.
