Trump’s approval plunges to record low as Iran conflict fuels cost-of-living fears

President Donald Trump’s approval rating has reached its lowest point during his current term, with only 34% of Americans approving of his performance, down from 36% in a previous poll. This new Reuters/Ipsos poll, completed on Monday, reflects growing dissatisfaction with Trump’s handling of the cost of living and the ongoing war with Iran.

Responses were primarily collected before a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, where Trump was scheduled to speak. The accused shooter has been charged with trying to assassinate the president. Trump’s approval ratings have declined since he took office in January 2025, when 47% of Americans approved of him. Currently, only 22% approve of his handling of the cost of living. The nationwide survey included 1,014 U. S. adults and had a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
