Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny and the KPop group “Golden” will compete at the upcoming Grammys ceremony, where several artists may win their first awards. Bad Bunny is in the running for album of the year with “Debà Tirar Más Fotos,” aiming to be the first Spanish-language winner. Last year’s winner in this category was Beyoncé for “Cowboy Carter. ” Billboard awards editor Paul Grein mentioned that the race is tight between Bad Bunny and Kendrick Lamar, with Lady Gaga also in the mix. If Lamar wins for “GNX,” he would be the first solo male rapper to achieve this, while Lady Gaga seeks her first top Grammy prize with “Mayhem” after over 20 years in music.
Trevor Noah is set to host the Grammys for the sixth time, marking his last appearance. The event will be broadcast live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ at 5 p.m. Los Angeles time. Bad Bunny recently skipped a concert tour in the continental U. S. due to fears of immigration issues, and his selection for the Super Bowl halftime show has received mixed reactions regarding language concerns.
The Grammys will feature performances from Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, and others. “Golden,” from the animated movie “KPop Demon Hunters,” is nominated for several awards. In the best new artist category, Leon Thomas is a frontrunner with six nominations, competing against Olivia Dean and Alex Warren. Winners will be chosen by about 15,000 voting members of the Recording Academy, which has focused on increasing diversity among its members.
