Kremlin Warns West of ‘Decisive Response’ to Any Hostile Acts

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned the West that any aggression against Russia would trigger a "decisive response. "

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned the West that any aggression against Russia would trigger a “decisive response. ” He emphasized this point during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly, addressing concerns about aircraft being targeted in Russian airspace. Lavrov criticized Germany for its militaristic comments and noted rising tensions along NATO’s eastern borders, particularly as incidents involving Russian jets and drones have increased.

In light of the ongoing war in Ukraine, Lavrov expressed that countries in Eastern Europe view Russia as a significant threat. He dismissed the idea that Ukraine could reclaim all its territory lost to Russia, directly addressing U. S. President Donald Trump’s claim on the matter. Lavrov pointed out that Russia has never attacked NATO or EU nations with drones or missiles and has no intention to do so in the future.

He highlighted the dangerous rhetoric from some Western leaders predicting a possible World War Three, particularly singling out German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Despite his criticisms of NATO and the EU, Lavrov maintained a desire for open dialogue with the United States, particularly under Trump’s presidency, despite his changing views.

Lavrov announced that the U. S. and Russia would hold talks soon to enhance their diplomatic operations, which have been strained in recent years due to mutual expulsions and sanctions. He also discussed the economic ties between Russia and India, stating they were not threatened by U. S. tariffs on Indian goods.

Additionally, Lavrov raised concerns about U. S. military actions near Venezuela, describing it as serious. He cautioned against using a proposed U. N. Security Council resolution aimed at addressing gangs in Haiti as a pretext for actions against Venezuela, claiming that some actors might exploit this situation for broader military goals.
