John Travolta, renowned actor known for films like “Pulp Fiction” and “Grease,” received an honorary Palme d’Or prize at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday. He was emotional during the award presentation, stating that this honor feels “beyond the Oscar,” despite having been nominated for that award twice. Travolta’s directorial debut, titled “Propeller One-Way Night Coach,” premieres at the festival. The film tells the story of a boy’s love for aviation and his journey to Los Angeles during the golden age of flight, based on a book he wrote thirty years ago.
He personally flew to the festival with his daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, who acts as a flight attendant in the film. Travolta expressed that making “Propeller” was a personal project for him, as he produced, financed, directed, narrated, and wrote it. He wanted to reflect on his life’s journey through this film. Travolta’s career in Hollywood began in the late 1970s and revived in the 1990s, solidifying his star status with various successful films. “Propeller” will be available on Apple TV starting May 29.
