U. S. intelligence reports that China is getting ready to send new air defense systems to Iran in the coming weeks, according to CNN.
Sources indicate that China plans to route these shipments through third countries to hide their origin. The U. S. State Department, the White House, the Chinese embassy in Washington, and China’s foreign ministry have not responded to requests for comment.
The transfer includes shoulder-fired anti-air missile systems called MANPADs. The U. S. and Iran will hold high-level talks in Islamabad on Saturday to discuss ending their six-week-old war.
