Russia announced on Monday that it will carefully evaluate whether any U. S. Tomahawk missiles supplied to Ukraine were launched using U. S. targeting data. U. S. Vice President JD Vance mentioned on Sunday that the U. S. is considering Ukraine’s request for Tomahawks, which can reach up to 2,500 km (1,550 miles), enough to target Moscow.
Russian President Putin has claimed that supplying this kind of targeting data would make Western countries active participants in the war. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized the need for a detailed analysis regarding who will launch the missiles and who will provide the targeting—Ukrainians or Americans. He also stated that Tomahawks would not drastically change the situation on the battlefield.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy asked the U. S. to sell Tomahawks to European countries that could send them to Ukraine. Vance mentioned that President Trump would have the final decision on the deal. U. S. envoy Keith Kellogg indicated that Trump supports the idea of Ukraine conducting long-range strikes on Russia.
