U. S. government agencies can now use Meta Platforms’ AI system, Llama, as part of a move to integrate commercial AI into government functions.
The General Services Administration (GSA) will add Llama to its approved AI tools list, allowing agencies to try it out with assurances of security and legal compliance. Llama is a large language model that can handle various types of data.
The GSA has also approved AI tools from other companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI, who offered their products at discounts while meeting security standards. This initiative aims to help federal agencies improve processes like contract reviews and IT issue resolution.
