An Arab-Islamic leaders summit is happening in Doha to support Qatar after an Israeli attack on Hamas in the Gulf state. The attack allegedly killed five Hamas members but not its leaders, leading Gulf Arab states to strengthen their ties amidst growing tensions between the UAE and Israel.

The summit includes Arab League and Organization of Islamic Cooperation members and aims to show solidarity with Qatar, according to Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

Netanyahu keeps up pressure

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has responded to global backlash over the September 9 attack by pressuring Qatar to remove Hamas leaders from its territory, warning that failure to act could lead to consequences from Israel.

Qatar, a mediator in the ongoing Gaza conflict, accuses Israel of hindering peace efforts and describes Netanyahu’s actions as “state terrorism. ” U. S. President Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the Israeli attack, stating it does not further Israeli or U. S. interests, while affirming Qatar’s role in pursuing peace and asserting that eliminating Hamas is a valuable objective.

Netanyahu claimed that removing Hamas leaders from Qatar would facilitate the release of hostages held by the group in Gaza and help end the ongoing war. The UAE has expressed concern, calling Netanyahu’s remarks hostile and emphasizing Qatar’s stability as crucial for the region’s security. Israel’s actions in Gaza have reportedly resulted in over 64,000 fatalities, while Hamas continues to hold 48 hostages, with Qatar mediating efforts for their release.
