European Council President Antonio Costa announced that the EU will continue to support Ukraine amid new progress in peace talks following Russia’s invasion.

He emphasized that the EU will provide ongoing diplomatic, military, and economic aid to President Zelenskiy. Costa noted that EU leaders agreed to cover Ukraine’s financial needs for the next two years, with a commitment to deliver at the December European Council.

The European Commission proposed using frozen Russian assets in Europe for a loan to Ukraine, although EU leaders have not yet reached a consensus on this issue. Costa stated that recent talks in Geneva showed positive advancements, despite some unresolved issues.
