At the Emmy Awards on Sunday, HBO’s “The Pitt” won best drama, defeating the heavily nominated “Severance,” and was celebrated for its strong storytelling. Noah Wyle, who starred in “The Pitt,” received his first Emmy for best drama actor after five previous nominations for “ER.” He expressed gratitude to healthcare workers in his acceptance speech.
The best comedy award went to “The Studio,” with Seth Rogen, the star and co-creator, also winning his first Emmy as best comedy actor. Rogen shared his delight at receiving the award. “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” won best talk series for the first time in its ten-year history. Colbert thanked CBS publicly, acknowledging that their future as a late-night show might be uncertain, especially after CBS announced the cancellation of the Emmys due to financial issues.

“Adolescence,” a Netflix series about a teen accused of murder, won best limited series. Its youngest star, Owen Cooper, took home the award for best supporting actor in a limited series, sharing his journey into acting and encouraging others to push their boundaries.
In comedy categories, Jeff Hiller won best supporting comedy actor for “Somebody Somewhere,” while Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder from “Hacks” won best actress and supporting actress. Einbinder humorously mentioned her previous nominations and made a political statement during her speech.

Both HBO and Netflix led the night with 30 Emmy Awards each, while Apple TV+ followed with 22. Approximately 26,000 members of the Television Academy voted for the winners. The show’s host, Nate Bargatze, encouraged concise speeches with a charity incentive, ending the evening with CBS’s commitment to donate $350,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, despite the intention to raise funds.
