Prince El Hassan Bin Talal of Jordan

His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal is recognised as both a statesman and a peacemaker, driven by a deep humanitarian inclination. For decades, he has advocated for dialogue between faiths and promoted a vision for West Asia and North Africa based on human dignity, sustainable development and regional cooperation. Prince El Hassan established institutions dedicated to inclusive dialogue, scientific cooperation, and mutual understanding, including the Royal Scientific Society, the Arab Thought Forum and the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies.Through his writing, including Search for Peace (1984), he explored the challenges of reconciliation and the need to find a politics of the “middle ground” in the region. His work is grounded in a long family legacy. The Hashemite dynasty held custodianship of Mecca for extended periods and later ruled in Jordan, Syria and Iraq. HRH is a descendant of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and of Sharif Hussein Ibn Ali, Emir of Mecca who dreamed of establishing an Arab Kingdom across the Hejaz, Iraq, Greater Syria, Jordan and Palestine.
